His Majesty the King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck visited Bangladesh on 25-28 March 2024 as the 'Guest of Honour' of the Great Independence and National Day of Bangladesh and had a bilateral dialogue with the Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh H.E. Sheikh Hasina.


 

With the initiative of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Thimphu, the Autobiography of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the “Unfinished Memoirs” has been translated into Bhutanese (Dzongkha) language by a team of the Centre for Bhutan and GNH Studies (CBS) led by Dasho Karma Ura. The Dzongkha version of the “Unfinished Memoirs” has been launched on 31 March 2024 in Thimphu by WHO Regional Director for South-East Asia Granddaughter of the Father of the Nation H.E. Saima Wazed and Her Royal Highness Princess of Bhutan Dechen Yangzom Wangchuck along with Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bhutan Lyonchhen Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Hon'ble State Minister for Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Bangladesh Mohammad Ali Arafat, Hon'ble Health Minister of Bhutan Lyonpo Tandin Wangchuk, Hon'ble Agricultural Minister of Bhutan Lyonpo Yonten Phuntsho, Ho'ble Home Minister of Bhutan Lyonpo Lyonpo Tshering and Hon'ble Industry, Commerce, & Employment Minister of Bhutan Lyonpo Namgyal Dorji.

On 27 November 2023, a Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Project for 'Construction of the Chancery Building and Ambassador's Residence in Thimphu' was held at Hejo, Thimphu. The foundation stone of the construction was laid by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh H.E. Sheikh Hasina and His Majesty the King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck

Bangladesh and Bhutan signed the "Agreement on movement of traffic-in-transit and Protocol" on 22 March 2023 in Thimphu. The Hon'ble Commerce Minister of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Tipu Munshi and Hon'ble Minister for the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment of Bhutan H.E. Mr.  Lyonpo Karma Dorji signed the agreement and the Protocol.

Her Majesty the Queen Mothers and the Royal Highnesses of Bhutan paid homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Bhutan.
